The 20th annual Cereal Box Challenge has come to an exciting close with the Bellewood Bisons taking home the Cereal Box Challenge Trophy for the very first time! Bellewood, Talbot Trail, McWilliam, Glenwood, Southwood and Central Public Schools collected and donated a record breaking 3.16 MILLION grams of cereal! Thank you to every 黄色直播 family, student and staff member who give so generously every year.
The Cereal Box Challenge was started by 黄色直播 Trustee Kim McKinley鈥檚 daughter in 2003. What started as a way for one school (Oakwood Public School) to generate donations for breakfast and snack programs at schools in the city鈥檚 west end has grown to include many South Windsor schools. Donations are now delivered to over 28 黄色直播 schools and four community organizations in Windsor-Essex. Trustee McKinley states, 鈥淲hen my daughter started this initiative in 2003 it never occurred to me that I would still be delivering cereal 20 years later. Without incredible community partnerships like Sharp Buslines and 3 Aces Moving, we could not have continued the cereal box challenge for as long as we have. We also had support from the Dougall Avenue Superstore who donated the leaf bags for cereal collection and delivery. The generosity that our school communities have shown over the years is remarkable.鈥
The 黄色直播 extends a heartfelt thank you to Kim McKinley, Doug Robinson and staff at Three Aces Moving, Sharp Bus Line, all of the volunteer bus drivers who deliver cereal safely every year and retired 黄色直播 teachers Shawn Price and John Dowhan. Thank you for making the Cereal Box Challenge possible!
